On July 16, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) published notices of request for public comments on 232 investigations for imports of polysilicon and its derivatives, and imports of unmanned aircraft systems and their parts and components, respectively.
BIS is seeking comments and information on certain criteria "as they affect national security". The criteria outlined in the notice include, but are not limited to:
- The current demand in the U.S. for the subject items;
- Ability for domestic production to meet the current domestic demand;
- Feasibility for increasing domestic production; and
- The impact of foreign government subsidies.
Instructions for comment submission can be found in the notices, and comments on each investigation are due by August 6, 2025.
